October 1, 2019 – January 5, 2020. The Frost Place, a nonprofit center for poetry and the arts at Robert Frost’s old homestead in Franconia, NH, in partnership with Bull City Press, has established a poetry chapbook fellowship. We invite submissions to the Eighth Annual Frost Place Chapbook Competition sponsored by Bull City Press. Occasionally, we will also be open for short prose work, in addition to poetry. Submission Periods & Upcoming Themes for The Poeming Pigeon: POP CULTURE: Submissions Open Oct 15 - Dec 15, 2019 ----- The Poetry Box Chapbook Prize- 2020 Our annual chapbook contest is open to writers residing in the United States. A prize of $1,000, publication by Slipstream Press, and 50 author copies is given annually for a poetry chapbook. The editors will judge. Submit a manuscript of up to 40 pages with a $20 entry fee, which includes a copy of the winning chapbook and an issue of Slipstream Magazine, by December 1. For the 2020 contest, the Autumn House staff serves as the preliminary readers, and the final judge is Ilya Kaminsky. The winner receives publication of a full-length manuscript and $2,500. The submission period opens January 1, 2020, and closes June 30, 2020 (Eastern Time).

During the 2020 submission period, up to three manuscripts may be selected for publication in 2021. Authors of selected manuscripts will receive 20% of the copies in the initial print run, with the option to buy more copies at a reduced price. If more than one manuscript is selected, authors will also receive a copy of the other chapbook(s). Wells College Press invites submissions to its annual Poetry Chapbook Contest. Soma Mei Sheng Frazier is the final judge of the Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest. Soma's third prose chapbook, Don't Give Up on Alan Greenspan, was selected as the winner of CutBank's 2018 contest and released in 2019. Grayson Books offers two poetry contests each year. The deadline for the chapbook contest is January 31. This contest is for 16-32 pages of poetry. The deadline for the full-length collection is August 15. This is for 50-80 pages of poetry.
